The temples in Thekkethara on Palakkad-Malampuzha route are more than 150 year’s old. Main deities here are Vettakkorumakan(Lord Shiva), Chathamkulangara Bhagavathi and Mahaganapathi. Apart from them there are Lord Ayyappan, Navagrahas and Naagar as Upadevatas.
The temple was under the governance of Palakkad Raja Sekhari Varma for many years. Now the governing body is a committee of devotees, selected by all the devotees who are staying nearby these temples, and headed by the trustee Shri. T.Vinayakumar.
The pujas of these temples are based on “Shivagama” under the instructions and guidance of the temple”Thanthri” Hon.Sivashri.Ganesh Shivacharyar. “KARTHIKA VELA” is the main Festival of this of this temple. Other festivals celebrated are Navarathri, Shivarathri, Sreekrishna Jayanthi, Thaipooyam, Madhurachatti Pongal.
“Swayamvara Puja”, “Vidya Puja”, “Sankatahara Chaturthi Puja” are the most popular pujas of this temple.
In 2005 these temples are reconstructed and done “Kumbhabhishekam”by spending more than rupees 40 lakhs. Recently by 2017 we have done the second Kumbhabhishekam lso by the kind co-operation of all the devotees of this temple.
