Please visit http://www.nhangattiribhagavathydevaswom.in for Puja booking.

Sree Nhangattiri Bhagavathy temple is one of the oldest Durga Devi temples in Valluvanad region of Malabar. It is also one of the rare temples where the Devi is facing West. The temple also has a big sacrificial altar or "balippura", which however pose no hindrance for Darshan from outside.

Nhangattiri temple is one of the most important and famous among the 108 durga temples erected by  Sage Parashuraman. Sitauated on the banks of Bharathapuzha, this temple has a peaceful ambience. The main speciality of this temple is that it is on the banks of Bharathapuzha which flows from south to north (almost 2Km) as in Kashi with Ganga flowing by its side.So bathing in the river from here is considered equivalent to bathing in ganga.

Important Pujas:

Muttarukkal, Raktha pushpanjali, Kadina payasam are the main offerings. Mangalya pooja and thali charthal is believed to be good for removing delay in marriages. Poojas are also done for shatrusamhara, welfare, curing diseases and obtaining high education. In the month of karthika, karthika oottu is done.

Niramala is celebrated on the karthika nakshtra of the month of Meenam. On the same day two artists are given the Nhangatti Bhagavathy Puraskaram. On the eve of the Rohini Nakshtra of Kumbha month, the festival would be flagged off and after eight days it will end with Devi's aaraattu in Bharathapuzha. .

The temple now has a website (http://www.nhangattiribhagavathydevaswom.in) where it offers online puja booking for its devotees spread across the world. Website also has a wealth of information about the temple.
