Know more about Pujas - Shathrusamhara Puja

Literally this puja means an offering to God for eliminating our enemies. However it is commonly misunderstood as a puja to protect a person from their enemies (physical). Whereas the actual purpose of this puja is to eliminate enemies within.

Each human being has 6 possible enemies in him/her. Kaamam(lust), krodham(anger), lobham(greed), moham(desire), madam(pride), matsaryam(competition). Collectively called “Shadvairikal” , each of these feeling can overcome a person and become an enemy. If any of these feelings start influencing a person he/she starts having enemies or a feeling of animosity towards others. Sathrusamhara puja is praying to God in bestowing us with the strength and power in overcoming the bad influence of these “Shadvairikal” and making ourselves aware of the enemy in us so as to attain the inner peace.
